Darby and Joan on Acorn

There was an old thread from two years ago discussing the virtues of this series, but wanted to start a new thread to mention there is a second season that started to drop in December.

 

It’s an Acorn original series set in Australia and has some of the most beautiful breathtaking scenery I’ve seen on television.

 

The show stars veteran actor Bryan Brown as Darby, a retired police detective and the beautiful Greta Scacchi as Joan. They literally meet by accident while recently widowed Joan is in Australia trying to find answers into the death of why her husband who said he was in Spain, turned up dead in Australia.

As they attempt to trace the departed Ian’s steps, they of course stumble across other crimes. 

I love these characters, there’s a charm, a maturity and authenticity in them. Both make no pretense about their age and stage in life. Their comaraderie stems from respect and trust.

 

I’m rewatching season one and can’t wait to start season two.
