American Funds’ parent Capital Group announced that veteran manager James Terrile will step off American Funds American Mutual on June 1, 2025, and retire from the firm. Terrile has spent all 27 years of his investment career at Capital Group and has been a manager here since 2006. While Terrile’s retirement is a loss, it is one that Capital Group is equipped to handle. The management team of Grant Cambridge, Charles Ellwein, Cheryl Frank, Martin Jacobs, James Lovelace, Will Robbins, and Brant Thompson remains. This change does not alter the strategy’s High People rating or its Morningstar Medalist Ratings.
